Director of Asbury Academy

Overview:
The Director of the Asbury Academy is responsible for creating and
fostering a fun, safe, loving, nurturing Christian based educational experience for
children 2-5yrs of age. The core responsibilities include the leadership,
management, and oversight of all academy administration & operations.
The Director of Asbury Academy will report directly to the Senior Pastor. 
Responsibilities:
1. Create and implement vision, mission, academy goals, educational goals/
objectives, and oversee curriculum development in conjunction with Asbury
Academy Board of Advisors oversight
2. Closely supervise the day-to-day operation of the program (staff, children,
parents, visitors, and facility)
3.Manage the academy enrollment process including admission paperwork,
communication, follow up, and general information dissemination to parents
4.Teach and or provide direct classroom oversight as needed
5. Prepare policy handbooks for distribution to staff and parents
6.Establish clear means of communication through a variety of media to parents
and community with the support of the Director of Multimedia & Communication
7.Maintain federal, state, & local certifications, licensure, & safety guidelines as
well as UMC Safe Sanctuary protocol
8. Recruit, hire, train and supervise all staff members
9.Plan and implement staff development & training
10.Conduct weekly staff meetings
11.Maintain personnel files on all staff members
12.Conduct staff evaluations as needed with formal evaluations not less than
annually
13. Establish an annual academy budget as well as construct academy fee structure
14. Prepare weekly payroll of staff and submit to Asbury Business Manager
Other responsibilities for the Director of Asbury Academy:
1. Participate in the administration of the church as delegated by the Senior Pastor
2. Attend Asbury staff meetings, Asbury Academy Board of Advisory meetings, and
or other meetings per the direction of the Senior Pastor
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Must be at least 21yrs of age
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education or
closely related field preferred.

1. Ability to create a fun and welcoming environment for children and their parents
2. Honesty & Integrity
3. Strong communication skills, ability to delegate and work well in a team
4. Adaptability to foster Christ-like patience and love
5. Able to establish healthy boundaries (work/life balance)
6. Must meet all requirements stipulated by the state for this position
7. Classroom teaching experience in an early childhood facility a plus
8. Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
9. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
10. Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
11. Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet
frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
12. Highly professional and dependable
13. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the internet
14. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations
Compensation:
Compensation for this position includes salary, health insurance, & paid vacation

Director of Children’s Ministry

Overview:
The Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible for leading the children’s ministries in accordance with Asbury’s MV(P); To make disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). The director will encourage all children in the
congregation and community to grow in faith as Christian disciples and ensure
those children are considered and included within the life of the congregation.
The core responsibilities include the oversight and leadership of the children’s
ministries such as children’s church, vacation bible school, special events, and
other related children’s activities or initiatives. The Director of Children’s Ministry will report directly to the Senior Pastor.
Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for the oversight and leadership of the children’s ministries that includes children’s church, vacation bible school, special events, and other related children’s activities or initiatives
  2. Recruit, grow, equip, & develop the volunteer leadership for all children's ministry activities
  3. Responsible for evaluating the children ministry and responding to changing needs of the ministry
  4. Maintain a Safe Sanctuary protocol with all children gatherings
  5. Maintain awareness of all children related activities taking place in the area, district and Annual Conference and promoting active involvement whenever possible
  6. Connect with existing church families and new families to promote Asbury’s children’s ministry
  7. Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the senior pastor

Other responsibilities for the Youth and Young adult ministries:

  1. Participate in the administration of the church as delegated by the Senior Pastor
  2. Attend Asbury staff meetings and or other meetings per the direction of the Senior Pastor

Compensation:

Compensation for this position is $12 per hour for an estimated 13hrs per week.
